Promise

Suppose that you stop talking,
To me some day my friend,
In spite of the promise,
That our friendship will never end.

Maybe you have decided,
To travel the journey alone,
Making new friends for yourself,
Now that you have grown.

You may then not want me,
You may then scold me foul,
You may utter such words,
That shame the wise old owl.

Despite this when time comes,
When you face a storm unkind,
When all the friends you just made,
Take shelter leaving you behind,

It'll perplex you to notice,
That you'll still sail safely through,
For I'll still keep my promise,
Without needing an effort from you.
