Yesteryear Hero

The inventor of surgery,
The creator of zero,
Among other wonderful names,
Also a martial arts hero.

These are what you answer when,
The question comes your way,
Did I forget to metion,
About the Gods that you pray?

The land where many faiths,
Have taken birth to travel far,
But, along all these years , my friend,
Haven't you yet raised the bar?

All the answers that you give are,
Atleast a thousand years old,
Wake up, my young and worthy men,
You're being forfotten in the cold.

Its alright to say that you're still,
Part of the great world of science,
Or you've been a part of an invention,
Useful to modern times,

But, that isn't just enough,
You need to get some credit too,
Be recognised for you ability,
Make the world take notice of you.

Raise the bar higher with
Every goal that you surpass,
Sow the seeds of prosperity,
Make hay of the already dry grass.

  1. Having travelled through many lands in Europe, I realised one thing. Apart from the fact that cities here are a little cleaner, and have less people, there is absolutely nothing in them that is comparable to the beauty of the country that I was born in . The countries here have one religion, one language, no caste system, and yet, have had a tumultuous past and an unstable present. We have 200 odd major languages, atleast 7 major religions that I know off, and yet we have managed to have a single identiy associated with our country.

The grass is always greener on the other side, they say. But the grass in our country is starting to dry up. We have been totally relying on achievements of our ancestors, as a cushion against our fall, when we are challenged or questioned by people from other lands.

We need to stop that, and believe in our ability and make the world take notice of us. What ever grass has dried can still be used to make hay and let us sow new seeds in their place.
